Hiking at Mont Grand Fonds: Trails & Tips

Boasting a diverse range of scenic trails, Mont Grand Fonds is a hidden summer gem in the Parc National des Grands-Jardins of Québec. This ski mountain stands at 725m tall and offers breathtaking views Lac Gravel below surrounded by the Laurentian mountains.

Mont Grand Fonds welcomes adventurers of all levels with open arms, ready to reveal its awe-inspiring views to those who dare to explore its trails.

Top Hiking Trails to Explore

One of the most challenging trails to go up the mountain is called Le Trappeur. This trail is considered difficult because of the many steep sections of the gravel path, with some loose rocks along the way.

This trail is about 3.8km one way and it will take you just over one hour to reach the top.

Once at the top of the mountain, you can choose from three different trails to go back down. The longest way down is with a trail called La Sommet which is about 5.2km long and it is considered of intermediate level. Most of the trail wanders through a magnificent forest.

There is also a nice little hut at the top, if you ever need a break or a place to hide from the weather. Last time I adventured on this hike, a crazy storm rolled in when I was at the top! I waited it out for about one hour before the skies cleared and I was able to hike back down.

The quickest way down the mountain is with the Ti-bé hiking trail. It is only about 2.3km down and you are walking down a ski run. The trail is wide and can be a little steep or slippery at times. It will take you about 30-45 minutes to walk back down this way.
