CIME - Mont St-Grégoire Trail
It's the Ecological Environment Interpretation Center of the Haute-Richelieu that is responsible for protecting and preserving the Mont St-Grégoire forest ecosystem. The trails are typically open from 8:30am to 4pm and they close the parking gate around 5pm. Their seasonal schedule is posted on their website.
I always choose the most difficult way up the mountain because I like the challenge. I also enjoy trails with the most scenic views or viewpoints along the way so for this hike I went up La Panorama which is only 1km long.
It took me around 45min to reach the top, with some stops along the way to enjoy the peekaboo views and the belvedere.
Panoramic Views
One of the highlights of hiking Mont Saint-Grégoire is the stunning panoramic view awaiting you at the summit. As you reach the top, feast your eyes on sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscape, including the rolling hills, quaint villages, and shimmering water bodies that paint the picturesque Quebec countryside.
On the way down, I took the longer route which I remember had lots of different views from the east side of the mountain. The way down on the La Carrière trail (1.4km) was slightly slippery because of the rain we had in the previous days. It was really fun to walk along the ridge of the mountain and learn about the small quarry that used to operated in the 1900s.
The total hike trail spans approximately 2.4 kilometers, providing a moderate challenge suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers.
Planning your adventure
